Without expecting it, we have had such a wonderful time in Joburg. The visit around town and to the school yesterday was such a surprisingly wonderful day. Today we toured around a little with our bed and breakfast host, saw the Apartheid Museum, and went to the phenomenal Buskaid Soweto Strings program.
We saw several Joburg neighborhoods, including the home where Nelson Mandela stays when he's here. We also saw the spot where Gandhi first spoke of non violence which we have associated with him, this time referring to the burning of the required passes.
This fort was used during the Anglo-Boer war.

The towers were used for prisoners waiting for trial.

Both Mandela and Gandhi were imprisoned here during its history.

That's Jill and our wonderful host!
Next was the Soweto Strings program. The kids were as young as 5, playing all string instruments. Whoever saw a five year old playing the cello???

Solly, below, 9 years old, is being trained as a teacher. He may have perfect pitch!!!!

Another young cellist:

The Instax camera was a big hit again!!!

There were also older kids. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Singers, too!!!

Practicing outside:

WE LOVED IT!!!
Following this incredible day, we had an all-time great dinner.
The truth is, I'm running out of superlatives!!!!!
